The Dolores and Bob Hope Estate - John Lautner, F.A.I.A.

Hope Residence, Palm Springs
John Lautner architect

Coming onto the market for the first time ever is the Bob and Dolores Hope residence in Palm Springs. This iconic home, at the top of Southridge, is one of the most distinctive works of architecture in the entire Coachella Valley.

Originally designed by John Lautner in 1973, the Hope estate is approx. 22,000 sq. ft. of concrete, steel and glass and sits directly above Lautner’s other well-known desert creation, the Elrod house.“The Hopes liked Arthur Elrod’s house so much they built a larger version,” recalled Hal Broderick, Elrod’s longtime business partner.“They would come to tea every Thursday for meetings. But the first house burned down and they had to start again.”

The most distinctive feature of the Hope estate is its massive undulating roof together with its hilltop location and panoramic views. This is an unique combination of architectural provenance and ownership by one of the most beloved entertainers of our time.

Rumoured to be $45 million.
